PAN'S LABYRINTH [TUE. MAY 1st, 20:00, Audi.]

Being the only chance for you to see a fantasy film in the BC Film Club, Pan’s Labyrinth differs considerably from other fantasy movies that came out in recent years for several reasons. First of all it definitely is not suitable for children to watch. Secondly it plays in the background of political theme, namely the Spanish civil war. And thirdly it works without the usual genre clichés. It simply is a very touching and beautifully made movie.

The Lives of Others [TUE. April 24, 20:00, Audi]

BC Film Club FEATURE FILM
This german movie is the first one not portraying the GDR in a humouristic or nostalgic way. For me personally (Phillip) it's one of the best movies I've seen in years. But judge for yourself....

Megacities [SAT 14.04 - R 301]

This Documentary is definitely one of a rougher kind. Depicting the harsh life of people from Bombay, Mexico City, Moscow and New York it deals with work, poverty, violence, love and sex and shows how the struggles of life parallel each other. Not for the faint-hearted, but very touching and guaranteed to be etched in your mind for quite some time.

NIGHT ON EARTH

This week's film is a classic and for once one without much of political connotation. It's the opening movie for our 2 Globalization/International Weeks. Here's a trailer, where Roberto Benini "drives" a Pastor crazy. NJoy: Five taxis. Five cities. One night.
